Building a Business Without Pimping Yourself
For those of you that don't want to pimp yourself on social media, YouTube, or elsewhere. Here's how to build your business (and what not to do).
Last weekend, I watched a series on YouTube about millennials that are cashing in through the internet.
I've been watching it for months, but then I ran into an interview about a girl that started her business a few years back and made over 6 figures from scratch. While that's no impossible, what's not so believable is that she did it with SEO.
Should You Fake It Until You Make It?
If this story was told a few decades ago, I wouldn't think much about it.
Out of curiosity, I looked at her site on Archive.org, a website that takes historical snapshots of other websites.
Then, I looked into her website to see what she was doing for on-page and off-page SEO. Not much. Most of the content wasn't optimized.
From my point of view, she was still faking it. Unless you're scumbag, I highly recommend not doing this if you really care about your reputation.
Then I realized her other strategies (that were not mentioned in the interview). She's all over Instagram with a bunch of glam shots. Typical #bossgirl with a ton of pictures showing off her wardrobe, hair, and makeup.
Now I'm getting the idea that it wasn't just about SEO.
You Don't Have to Be a Pimp to Build Your Business
If you're the type of person that wants all the attention, then what I'm going to share doesn't focus on that.
What I'm talking about here is just genuine.
When you're building a business online, one of the best ways to have influence without all the glam shots is to actually offer value.
If you're focused on providing value to a specific audience, the more you learn, the more that you'll grow. With that, you'll know more than others out there, and they can learn a lot from you!
You've gotta spice up your content too! I still think that pictures and videos can be helpful aids in the process. They provide a huge credibility boost.
In addition to adding media, add some personality. Nowadays, people can use artificial intelligence (AI) to generate content. The issue with most of this content is that it's boring. It's very similar to the content that I've farmed out in the past...the kinda stuff that will just put you to sleep. With that being said, these AI tools are powerful if you use them the right way.
